Second Bishop of Kitale
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Chemengich was consecrated and enthroned as the Second Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya Diocese of Kitale on October 7th, 2018, during the Nineteenth Sunday after Trinity at St. Luke's Cathedral.
His consecration marked a historic turning point for the diocese, which was originally established on July 20th, 1997. Bishop Chemengich succeeded the founding bishop, Rt. Rev. Stephen Kewasis, who served faithfully for 21 years laying the foundation upon which the diocese continues to grow.
Bishop Chemengich answered God's call to ministry with a heart shaped by his parents' faithful nurturing in the fear of God. He is blessed with a supportive family including his beloved wife, Dorcas, and their children: Sarah, Subira, Wema, and Baraka, who have walked alongside him throughout his ordained ministry and episcopal journey.
His episcopal ministry is characterized by a deep commitment to spiritual formation,faithful stewardship, and transformative community engagement. He believes in the collective nature of ministry, recognizing that "we are one body of Christ, gifted differently and diversely, but together serving Christ's purpose in the world."
